History
Shotton Partnership was established in 1998 as the result of a community appraisal. Volunteers from the local community set up the Partnership with the aim of regenerating and developing Shotton Colliery, which is a high priority target ward of Easington District.
Even though the Partnership has developed rapidly since its initial set up, many of the original members are still on the Board today. In 2001 the organisation changed the governance arrangements and became a Company Limited by Guarantee with charitable aims and, in 2006, the Company was granted charitable status.
The Partnership manages a budget of over £125,000 per year, and obtains funding from a variety of sources.
Working in partnership with other organisations we are also able to tap into other grants to finance projects, mainly capital spend, which do not come directly into our bank account.
The Partnership keeps up to date with all new Government, County, District and Local initiatives to ensure that the community of Shotton continues to benefit and, over the years, the Partnership has become the first port of call for outside agencies when they wish to consult with the community.
By working in Partnership with residents and other agencies, we maximise resources and explore all opportunities which help to improve the quality of life for the community of Shotton.
Our history shows that voluntary groups which are focussed on the improvement of their villages can make a difference to the communities where they live.
