I.T. Resource Centre

When we first opened in June 2000, the primary aim of the I.T. Centre was to give individuals easy access to computers and basic I.T. training.

It soon became apparent that a broader range of courses was needed. To address this issue we became a Learndirect Centre and were able to offer a wider variety of courses including Skills for Life. We continually develop and expand the services we offer to meet the needs of our beneficiaries.

By December 2005, we’d had over 600 adults accessing the Centre for training; many of them gaining qualifications in I.T.  Since June 2002, almost 200 learners have enrolled onto around 600 Learndirect courses with around 400 of these having completed.  In June 2004 the Centre became an accredited City & Guilds Test Centre, with 86 learners achieving certificates in literacy/numeracy at Level 1 and/or Level 2 up to the end of September 2006.

The Centre was awarded the prestigious Information, Advice and Guidance status in 2001 (one of the first organisations in the county to achieve this) and in 2006 was re-assessed and successfully retained this accreditation which is now called the Matrix Standard.
