Health Forum
Shotton Health Forum is committed to improving the health and quality of life in our community. As well as allocating a grant budget, Easington Primary Care Trust provides a small amount of money to cover our running costs.
Each year we hold a Winter Wellness Day at the local community centre. The main aim of this event is to inform the community of what services they can access to improve their health, safety and environment. Information stands from service deliverers have included Age Concern, The Fire Service, Mencap, Neighbourhood Watch, P.A.LS, E.D.D.H.I.S. and the Healthy Eating team.
The Health Forum grant budget from the P.C.T. allows us to offer grants of up to £500 to community groups which have health related projects or activities. In the financial year 2005/6 grants were given to fund a diversity of activities:-
| Community Festival | - | Towards the cost of hosting a Family Fun Day |
| The Lunch Club | - | To purchase kitchen equipment |
| Mother & Toddlers | - | To purchase new toys |
| Youth Club | - | To provide cheap transport for the youth |
| Neighbourhood Watch | - | To cover printing costs for Newsletter |
| Alcote Grove | - | To purchase kitchen equipment |
| EDDHIS | - | To cover the cost of a lip-reading tutor |
